I Loved Sight Reading At My Lessons

Writer: Rick BroadwellRick Broadwell

Thinking back, the best part of my trumpet lessons as a young student was sight reading swing duets with my teacher / mentor Ollie Mitchell. It was the last thing we did at each lesson. It was kind of magical, and I looked forward to it. I liked it so much that decades later it has inspired me to write my own jazz trumpet duet book. There are several free duets on this page here: https://www.hawaiilivemusic.com/projects-2.

Check them out and download them if you wish. There are also audio samples on the same page. Later!
